College Counseling

Sugar Bowl Academy is dedicated to providing a comprehensive college admissions program in hopes of providing every student with a wide range of options upon graduation. In the spring of their sophomore year, students begin the college planning process which focuses on academic scheduling, the college search, standardized test preparation, and the application process. Our goal is to match students with appropriate post-graduate plans whether that includes a continuation of competitive skiing or not.

To achieve this goal, we work closely with students and parents to develop suitable academic course loads and personalized college lists. Additionally, we provide students with opportunities to visit colleges and universities and meet with coaches while on ski related travel. As juniors, students enroll in an SAT Preparation Course scheduled around heavy travel and as seniors, they attend workshops on essay writing and the application process.

Once college lists are finalized, students work closely with our Director of College Counseling to complete individual applications, receive necessary teacher recommendations, and submit the final applications including any supplemental paperwork. We are confident that students will graduate from Sugar Bowl Academy with a broad range of schools from which to choose.

"The SBA staff took an active role in guiding our son through the process from start to finish. With their help in keeping him focused on the details of the admissions process, we were able to focus our time with helping our son think through his college options. It was an effective team effort and far less stressful than we expected."
