Ages 8-9

Our U10 program (ages 8-9) for skiers and riders builds on the foundations established in the U8 program with training on Saturdays and Sundays during the winter, additional weekdays during school breaks, and optional Fridays.

The program continues to focus on the foundational techniques and skills needed to become an expert skier or rider and further builds the fundamental skills athletes need to move into a more specialized program in Alpine, Freeride, Freeski, or Backcountry as they continue to grow and mature. Most skiers and riders at this age will be in the standard program, as the skill development builds the appropriate foundation for all disciplines. Skiers or riders who want to specialize in a discipline may do so only with coach approval.

Our coaches create a fun environment for their teams and work to develop a love of the outdoors and winter sports while modeling how to approach challenging situations with grit, grace, and courage, the core characteristics of SBA athletes.

This program follows the guidelines of the U.S. Ski & Snowboard athlete development model with training 2-3 days per week. Athletes will focus on skier/rider safety, technical ability, balance, and coordination with an emphasis mileage. Groups are formed based on age and ability.

Athletes interested in racing will have a focus on gate training in our race arena. U10 athletes are encouraged to enter Far West races as directed by their coaches. Coaches will recommend appropriate competitions for athletes in a specialized program based on age and ability.
