Bridget Legnavsky, Board Vice-Chair

Peter Phillips, Treasurer

Peter grew up ski racing and was a Co-Captain of Middlebury College’s Alpine Ski Team, competing on the collegiate circuit and FIS races in the US and internationally. Peter works at Medley Partners as a Managing Director, managing private equity investments. Peter and his wife Lacee have three children who learned to ski at Sugar Bowl and who are currently on the Alpine teams with Sugar Bowl Academy.

Smita Bakshi

Smita brings deep expertise in education and research. Smita co-founded zyBooks to empower college students and learners to acquire knowledge and skills in STEM with highly interactive learning material. zyBooks was acquired by Wiley, a global leader in research and education, in 2019. Smita served as a Senior Vice-President of Academic Learning at Wiley until 2024. Currently, Smita invests, advises and serves on boards of education start-ups. Smita has an MBA from Harvard University and a PhD in Computer Science from UC Irvine.

Camilla Beevor, Secretary

Camilla started her career as an IT management consultant working for Price Waterhouse Coopers in London and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. She re-trained as a Functional Nutritionist, earned her master’s degree, and now owns her own consulting business, working with functional medicine doctors and patients around the world. Camilla originally hails from England/Australia, has lived in many countries, and loves to travel. She has one graduate of SBA and three children currently enrolled in Sugar Bowl Academy’s school.

Ellen Cooper

Ellen has been in the Tahoe area since 2012. She is a general surgeon and Trauma Medical Director at Tahoe Forest Hospital and is deeply passionate about improving all aspects of care for injured people in the region. Ellen and her family have been involved at Sugar Bowl for many years, and her children are long time members of the Sugar Bowl Academy teams.

Nadia Costa

Nadia is co-founder and partner at GVR Partners, where she specializes in providing thoughtful and pragmatic guidance to landowners, developers, and investors with respect to land use entitlements for a wide range of projects throughout California. Prior to GVR, Nadia was the co-chair of Miller Starr Regalia’s Land Use Department. Nadia holds a J.D. from University of California, Berkeley, School of Law. Her son is an SBA alumnus and is currently attending the University of Utah.

Andrew Davis

Andrew Davis is the Head of School at Mount Tamalpais School in Mill Valley, California. He served as a Head of Middle School and Director of Admissions at Crystal Springs Uplands School before assuming his present responsibilities. Andrew also serves on the Boards of the California Association of Independent Schools and Crystal Springs Uplands School. He holds an MBA and MA in Education from Stanford University. He is an avid cross-country and downhill skier.

Matt Paul

Matt graduated as the Valedictorian from Sugar Bowl Academy in 2005. He skied on the Division 1 team at Bates College, then successfully completed the rigorous training to become a US Navy SEAL, serving 6 years with multiple Middle East deployments. Matt is the founder and principal of Loose Cannon Pictures, an independent film production company known for producing "Violet" and "Breakwater", which saw premieres at festivals such as the SXSW Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, and Cinequest. Matt’s working on his third feature film under the Loose Cannon banner. 

Eileen Sheldon

Eileen and her family have been part of the Sugar Bowl Academy community for over a decade. Eileen’s children have participated in both Sugar Bowl Academy teams and the full-year school. Eileen has broad experience working with non-profits in the Bay Area and brings expertise in fundraising and governance to SBA. She currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Trustees for Marin Primary & Middle School.

Bryn Jedlic, Board Chair

Bryn is co-founder and managing partner at GVR Partners, where he advises leading local and national developers on land use entitlements in California. Bryn has broad experience in real estate and has been involved in a wide range of real estate development and luxury hotel activities throughout his career.  Bryn started his career in San Francisco, before moving to Paris and then Abu Dhabi, where he led the real estate investments team for Mubadala.  Bryn and his family are avid winter sports enthusiasts with one child enrolled in the school program at SBA.

Xander Guldman

Xander discovered his love for skiing through Sugar Bowl Academy’s Freeride program and graduated from SBA in 2016. He has a degree in International Relations from UC Davis and now lives in Truckee, where he skis professionally. He competed on the Freeride World Tour in 2023 and currently films with Matchstick Productions and Head Skis, where his performance in Head’s Unified earned him the IF3 Breakout Skier of the Year award. Over the past three years, he has worked to transform the Silver Belt Classic at Sugar Bowl into a peer-judged backcountry freestyle event that brings some of the best skiers and snowboarders in the world to Sugar Bowl each spring.
