Dear Sugar Bowl Academy Community,
Sugar Bowl Academy athletes represented this past week! Futures Tour and Intrasquad at Sugar Bowl and competitions at Kirkwood, Mammoth, Mt. Rose, Diamond Peak, and Palisades. It was awesome to see our athletes demonstrating the courage to give their best. Our athletic successes are drawing international interest, and we have student-athletes asking about our programs from around the globe. For our school programs, facilities and other logistical considerations limit our capacity. We have space for 105 students total, and we seek to gracefully balance those students across day and boarding, full year and winter term, and grade levels. Right now, there is more demand than space for some programs. We want to make sure we allocate available space to students that exemplify athletic achievement, academic success, and character development. Current school families have been asked by email to complete an intent form for next year. If you have not done so already, please complete the form by Tuesday. Financial aid applications have been open to returning and new families since February 1. We have a budget for both need-based financial aid and merit-based financial aid, and it is allocated on a first come, first served basis. If you will be applying for financial aid and have not yet completed your application(s), please do so by Tuesday. For merit-based aid, the application can be completed without any financial information or tax documents. For need-based aid, starting the application will let us know you are applying for it even if you do not currently have all the necessary documents to complete the application by Tuesday. The abundance of grit from our athletes, students, staff, families, and community this year has solidified that Sugar Bowl is the best place to do what we do. Next year will be another year of grit, grace, and courage, and more families than ever want to be a part of it. Thank you for completing the intent form and financial aid application(s) by Tuesday so we can make the best school enrollment decisions for Sugar Bowl Academy. Finally, as you plan for next year, the 2026-2027 SBA School Calendar is set, with independent study school days starting August 17, 2026 and in-person school days starting August 31, 2026.
Sincerely,
Stephen

Academics
Mental Health Support
It has been another busy week of academics at SBA. This is one of the most busy– and by extension, stressful– times of year for our students. Mental health support is available for all students with our counselor, Nikki, on Tuesdays from 12-6. Any student who wishes to schedule an appointment ahead of time can reach out to Louis or Steve.
Schoolwide Read: Accountable
Students should have read pages 187-252 for our Monday Homeroom discussion of Accountable.
Middle School
We are officially over halfway through Winter Term for our middle school students. Everyday they bring energy, excitement and enthusiasm for learning as they enter the Academy. Students who are currently taking Enrichment during B block should expect to start their new class – Spanish with Rich or Rockband with Steve – on Monday.
