Dear Sugar Bowl Academy Community,
One of the most special aspects of the Sugar Bowl community is our families. Your involvement and support are essential to our ability to provide our athletes and students with opportunities to excel athletically, academically, and as individuals. In short, you make grit, grace, and courage happen. This year, we are offering more opportunities for you to be involved and support Sugar Bowl Academy.
For our team families, we will need your help at races, competitions, and other events at Sugar Bowl. We will also ask for your assistance with our youngest athletes to keep them safe and happy on our busiest on-snow days. We are excited to start a new program for volunteers. A limited group of volunteers will receive a free Sugar Bowl Unrestricted Season Pass for committing to volunteer for a set number of days this season. Look for the details of this program soon.
For our school families, each family will need to serve on a school committee this year. Families will sign up for their committee and learn about their responsibilities at our Family Day on Monday, October 27, 2025.
For everyone in our community, we are planning our biggest fundraiser ever. On Sunday, February 15, 2026, we will be hosting the U10 North Series Slalom race. We will close the day with the Academy Soiree, our main fundraiser and a cannot miss celebration of grit, grace, and courage. Mark your calendars now for the Academy Soiree on February 15, 2026!
Finally, as a non-profit organization, we rely on tax-deductible donations. Giving is quick and easy, whether it is $25 or $25,000. We want full participation from our families. There is no reason to wait. Give now at sbacademy.org/give.
From the Sierras to the Bay, Sugar Bowl is buzzing. Thank you for helping make it happen. Let's keep it going. We look forward to your continued involvement and support.
Sincerely,
Stephen McMahon

Support a Coach with Housing
Housing near Sugar Bowl can be challenging, especially for our coaches who are with us only for the winter season. Some of our coaches are in need of affordable housing this winter. If you have available space and would enjoy welcoming a Sugar Bowl Academy coach for the winter, please email us at admin@sbacademy.org or call us at 530-269-7401. We hope to get a couple of our coaches set for this winter.
Sponsor Sugar Bowl Academy
Want to support SBA and promote your business to the Sugar Bowl Community? We are looking for sponsors for the 2025-2026 season. You can find more information and become a sponsor on our website at sbacdemy.org/sponsor.

Family Day at Sugar Bowl Academy
We are excited to invite all school families to join us on Monday, October 27, 2025, for our Family Day! This special day is an opportunity for you to share in the experiences of your student at Sugar Bowl Academy. Come and meet your student’s teachers, coaches, and the rest of the Academy team. It will be a day filled with grit, grace, and courage. While the Lodge will be closed due to construction, families can rent a home in the Village and be right here during your visit. We look forward to seeing you on October 27! Explore Available Rentals
PSAT Preparation
Sophomores and juniors should download Bluebook now on their Mac or Windows computer to prepare for the PSAT. Karen will be meeting with all students through English classes this week to demonstrate further how to use this software. Each student will have a personalized login ticket to practice questions for the test day, October 29.
COPA SBA
Our students participated in our first COPA SBA, a mini World Cup soccer tournament, on Thursday for house points. We proud of the students for participating, playing safely with great sportsmanship, and bringing so much positive energy to the event. Congratulations to Afghanistan, who finished in first place, followed by Portugal in second place, and France in third place!
