Dear Sugar Bowl Academy Community,

What a weekend we shared at Sugar Bowl! Watching a flood of athletes go from Village Hall to fill the lifts is a must see, and the energy they have is off the charts. Our first intrasquad race of the season was a blast, with many athletes making a start for the first time. The new team bibs for our younger athletes were a hit. These bibs are possible thanks to the generous support of our sponsor, Donner Summit Properties. If you have fallen in love with this place and are ready for a home here, or if you are searching for a different property in the area, reach out to Carrie and she will make your mountain home dreams a reality. We also packed the room this weekend for our tuning clinic with Brandon from Start Haus. Whether it is custom boot fitting, race gear, or World Cup-level tuning, the team at Start Haus takes care of business.

We count on our sponsors to make it happen, and we also count on our volunteers. Our new volunteer program is designed to support our athletes with a fantastic perk, a complimentary season pass at Sugar Bowl. See below for details on how you can support our athletes and ski or ride for free this season. This week for students and staff, back to school on Tuesday on our standard on-snow schedule. This week for team families, we are excited to welcome you back this weekend as we host another race series. The U16+ Wild West Qualifier is at Sugar Bowl. Slalom (SL) races on Saturday and Sunday in the Arena and a Giant Slalom (GS) race on Monday on the Hannes Schroll Speed Venue. For everyone, get your tickets to the Academy Soiree before they sell out. It will be the celebration of the year for Sugar Bowl Academy programs! We hope you will join us for an unforgettable evening. Finally, remember that there will be no school or team programming tomorrow, Monday, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Sincerely,
Stephen

Volunteer Opportunities

Over the course of our winter season, we need volunteers to help ensure we can provide a safe and fun experience for all athletes and to offer races and competitions at Sugar Bowl. Volunteers who sign up for at least 12 days are eligible for an unrestricted Sugar Bowl season pass. This perk is limited to the first 15 people who sign up, and you must fulfill all your volunteer shifts to keep your pass active. Whether you have one or two days to give or can volunteer for the whole season, we appreciate your contribution to our athletes. We ask all team families to sign up for one shift for the season. We need team sweepers for our youngest teams and race and competition volunteers on days with competitions at Sugar Bowl.

Signing up to volunteer is an easy process that takes just a few minutes. You can easily select which shifts you want to take and add them to your calendar. If you have a change in your schedule, you can manage your shifts online. If you are interested in volunteering at least 12 days, please register for your shifts, then contact admin@sbacademy.org to let us know you are eligible for a season pass. We will verify your shifts, then get your pass ready for pickup and provide you a refund if you’ve already purchased a season pass.
