We are excited to officially start a new academic year! This year, we have introduced a new school calendar that features independent study days. These 23 days are purposefully timed to align with travel and break periods. Our first independent study period begins this week. Teachers have prepared assignments and provided the necessary resources so our students can work independently and thoughtfully wherever they are. It is essential that all students complete their assigned work and have it ready when we return for in-person school on Tuesday, September 2. Looking forward to seeing our commitment and discipline on display by having every student meet this expectation.

On our in-person school days, we must work together to maximize teaching and learning so that each student experiences the college preparatory education we promise. All students are expected to be present for in-person school days unless they are traveling for Sugar Bowl Academy training or competition. With grit, grace, and courage, I know we will have excellent attendance this school year and that our students will experience exceptional growth and achievement.

Sincerely,
Stephen

Academics

Independent Work

All students should have joined the Google Classroom for each of their scheduled classes for the 2025-2026 school year. Please reference the Google Sheet if you still need to join your classes.

Teachers for each class have assigned work with all the necessary resources for students to complete the work independently. The assignments are accessible via the Google Classroom. The independent work must be completed and submitted before in-person class begins on Tuesday, September 2. Thank you for being attentive to your assigned work and starting the year off in the right way!

Art Program - Donations Needed

As we shared last week, we are adding a ceramics program for this school year! We are going to order necessary supplies this week. Please let us know If you are able to donate items or know someone who can before we order. Ceramics will expand what our students have already been producing in their art classes. We want to add to our art program by allowing students to print their work on quality materials and further develop their skills. We are looking for the following new-condition items:

  • Wheels

  • Kiln

  • Clay

  • Glazes

  • Aprons

  • Bats

  • Clay tools

  • Kiln shelving

  • Printer - Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8550 Wireless Wide-Format All-in-One

  • Ink - 552 Ink Bottles 6-Pack (ET-8550/ET8500)

  • Paper - Koala Glossy Inkjet Photo Paper 8.5x11, 48 lb, 100 sheets

If you are able to donate any of these items or know someone who can, please reach out to us at admin@sbacademy.org or 530-269-7401. Together, we can add a new program and make our existing art classes even better for our students.
